Opportunity Overview
The fall season is one of the perfect times of year to have a trail clean up. The South Coast Management Unit would like to invite you to a Fall Clean-Up Day at Lyman Reservation on November 3, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Come see this spectacular property, named “The Jewel of the South Coast” and work alongside staff and other volunteers to prepare our trails for the coming winter. Volunteers are welcome to stay for an hour or the entire 4 hours. This is also a great opportunity for any high school students needing to fulfill community service hours. This volunteer position allows the volunteer to work with and learn from other conservation-minded people.

Responsibilities

  • Remove trash, small branches, and other debris from the trails
  • Rake trail, trim back overhanging branches
  • Clean-up of property entrances
  • Painting and small repairs to buildings
  • Maintenance of fire breaks
  • Sign up for this event

Qualifications

  • Have reliable transportation to property
  • An interest in conservation
  • Ability and willingness to work on the property
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Dress in appropriate field clothes and footwear for varying weather conditions: hot and dry, cold or wet, etc.
  • Observance of Trustees safety protocol
  • Good communication skills (desired, not required)
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces and lift up to 15 lbs
  • Minimum age: 18. Under 18 will require parent/guardian supervision

Time Commitment Needed
Saturday, November 3rd between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Come for the whole day or a few hours.
