This 251-acre peninsula has historic and beautiful stonewalls crisscrossing the former farmlands and grassland habitat. Volunteers will be working with staff to maintain these structures by removing vegetation and rebuilding damaged sections. While the tasks may be laborious, the work results in the idyllic landscapes known to thousands of visitors each year.
Duties:
- Work with staff to rebuild collapsed sections of walls
- Remove vines, weeds, and other vegetation covering walls
Qualifications:
- Ability to work as part of a team or crew
- Comfortable working in outdoor weather (heat, cold, wind)
- Knowledge (or interested in learning about) hand tools such as clippers, loppers, and shears.
Duties:
- Clearing of stone walls around World's End
- Stacking stones that have fallen off the wall (within a reasonable size limit)
- Piling debris in open areas to be burnt at the appropriate time of year
Time commitment:
- Monthly meeting with time to be decided and/or people going out and working on a project as their time allows
