Weir River Farm is looking for an individual with a background in carpentry interested undertaking building projects. Interested individuals should have a basic knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures. The majority of this work will be carried out and completed individually but there will be several opportunities to assist on larger projects with Trustees staff.
Duties:
- Construct or repair trail or farm structures e.g. chicken coop, trail kiosk, sign boards, fences, footbridges, picnic tables, nest boxes, etc.
- Perform structural repairs or renovations e.g. barn siding, trim, doors, office and bathroom renovation, outbuildings
- Assist with design/drawings of office and bathroom renovations
- Cleaning up workshop, tuning up and repairing power and hand tool
Qualifications:
- Ability to work with tools, lumber, and materials
- ability to organize assigned tasks, for completion alone or with help
- Knowledge of power tools and hand tools along with an understanding of how to safely use each tool is necessary
- Individuals should have some experience and ability in reading as well as drawing plans
- Knowledge of building structures including but not limited to ceilings, windows, frames, roofs, as well as independent structures (chicken coops) is necessary
Duties:
- Working with staff to fix structures around the farm
- Fixing doorways, windows etc. from wear and tear of active barn use
