Who We Are
Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit food recovery organization. Our mission is to prevent consumable excess food from being wasted by redirecting it to feed people instead of landfills! Using our web-based Food Rescue App, our Volunteer “Rescuers” pick up excess food from our Food Donor Partners (businesses) and deliver it to our Recipient Partners (human service organizations) at no cost to them to provide necessary food assistance to people of all ages, religions, cultures & backgrounds.
What We Do
- We invite Human Service Agencies (HSAs) to sign up as Food Recipients, a free service. HSAs include soup kitchens, shelters, pantries and other organizations that provide necessary food assistance to people with zero or low income of all ages, races, cultures and religions.
- We encourage businesses to partner with RLC to donate their excess food. We strategically match Food Donor Partners like eateries, markets, commercial kitchens and those hosting catered events to our Recipient Partners based on schedule, geography and needs.
- We ask YOU to volunteer as a Food Rescuer! It typically takes less than one hour to rescue food from our donor partners and deliver it to our HSA recipients using our Food Rescue technology. No minimum time or frequency commitment. Go solo or as a team. Safety guidelines are in place for zero person-to-person contact.
- We utilize sophisticated technology to increase our social and environmental impact by making food rescue and distribution increasingly sustainable, consistent and efficient over time.
We believe that excess food marks a new beginning, not an end.
