The Arc of the South Shore

Since 1951, The Arc of the South Shore has helped more than 90,000 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, live their best lives and achieve high-quality outcomes. We are a family oriented, community-based non-profit and offer information, referrals, and a range of community programs. Our primary service area includes the cities and towns of Braintree, Cohasset, Hingham, Hull, Milton, Norwell, Quincy, Randolph, Scituate, and Weymouth; however, we also have a presence throughout Greater Southeastern Massachusetts. Our 20 Board members, 228 employees, and 220 volunteers provide compassionate care and support to help individuals with disabilities improve their health, safety, and independence.

More than one in every ten families in Massachusetts includes an individual with an intellectual or developmental disability, and it is vital that they have access to comprehensive care. Individuals with disabilities experience difficulties with major life activities such as communication, behavior, learning, mobility, self-help, and/or independent living. They require a range of services; some need one-on-one assistance with activities of daily living while others have greater functional and social skills and are able to live relatively independently with supportive services in place. In response, The Arc’s programming supports and empowers them throughout their lifespan. We serve more than 3,800 individuals and their families annually and offer comprehensive programming that includes our Autism Resource Center for families; Early Intervention services for children from birth to age three; and Day Habilitation, Community-Based Day Services, Residential Supports, Employment Services, and Personal Care Management for adults.
