Opportunity Overview
Be a part of the effort to bring the beauty of gardens to Allen C. Haskell Public Gardens on this nationally celebrated day! Several garden areas will need spring sprucing up including spreading mulch and removing weeds. This is a day to interact with staff and learn about all of the fun and rewarding ways you can become involved this spring and summer as a volunteer at Haskell Gardens.
Responsibilities
• Sign up for this event
• Able to work as part of a team
• Able to follow directions
• Log volunteer hours
Qualifications
• Have reliable transportation to the garden
• A love of gardening and the outdoors
• Able to work independently or as part of a team
• Willingness to work outdoors
• Ability to kneel, lift up to 10 pounds, pull and dig
Time Commitment
One to three hours. Early arrivals and assistance for the full morning encouraged. Dress for the weather, and bring garden gloves (if you have them), water, hat, sunscreen and snacks. Hand tools will be available, but please feel free to bring your own weeder if you have a favorite.
