TRAIL BLAZERS

Mass Audubon Allens Pond is Hosting Volunteer Days

Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting volunteer “Trail Blazer” days every Friday from 9am to noon.  Volunteers meet at the Allens Pond Field Station at 1280 Horseneck Road then head off to any one of three trailheads on the Sanctuary.

Trail Blazers were started in order to help create a new trail along the upland of the marsh that will provide spectacular views of the Allens Pond.  When done the trail will connect all three of the trail systems so visitors can enjoy a roughly 9-mile round-trip hike.

Trail Blazer days are open to everyone: no experience of any kind is necessary.

They provide all of the tools, training and materials needed.  Trail blazer projects include brush burning, boardwalk building, invasive plant control, trail maintenance, butterfly garden projects and of course, blazing new trails.  Volunteers will gain new skills, meet neighbors and connect with nature.  Join the e-mail list to get weekly notifications.
