Volunteer: Foster Homes Needed

In 2011, there were 4,183 Massachusetts children under the age of 18 placed in Intensive Foster Care. The need has not extinguished, and remains unmet. We are seeking homes to open their doors, arms, and hearts to change the life of a child. Foster families can consist of single or dual parent households, those with or without prior parenting experience, those with children currently in the household, home owners, renters, pet-owners, those of any race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic status, or marital status. Volunteer: Help an Adult Day Health Center with Recreation Activities

Hillside, a program of Justice Resource Institute, provides day treatment for frail elders and functionally impaired adults. Hillside provides a safe, caring environment with medical, social and rehabilitation therapies. The program operates Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

If you wish to work in a caring environment with elders and disabled adults, and would like to better understand the effects of aging on a diverse population, Hillside Adult Day Health Care provides a wonderful service and learning opportunity.

You can choose to participate in a variety of activities, including:

Assist with serving morning or afternoon meals and snacks Assist a staff person with individual or group activities, such as bingo, "bowling", "golf", horseshoes, balloon basketball/volleyball, etc.  Play board games or cards  Read to a visually impaired client  Share stories and listen Walk with clients  Assist in field trips  Do manicures  Your ideas are always welcome!

Meadowridge Academy is a 36 bed therapeutic boarding school located on 6 acres in rural MA that provides comprehensive treatment to adolescent males and females ages 12 to 22 with severe mental health issues, behavioral difficulties and complex trauma histories, through a multidisciplinary team approach. Our mission is to protect and support our students, while developing their strengths and teaching them skills.

Specific Responsibilities:

You can choose to participate in a variety of activities, including:

Filing, faxing, data entry Answering Telephone and greeting guests Photocopying, organizing, stapling packets (if applicable) Scanning paper files as needed (if applicable)

All volunteers complete an intake and orientation that includes Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) clearance, reference check, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training, information on Justice Resource Institute’s mission, including its philosophy, goals and general policies. The OSHA training is repeated annually. Volunteers are encouraged to attend additional training, including First Aid and CPR. This training is our gift to you.
