Objective: To help WRWA set up, run, or clean up after its annual River Day, and to help provide an inclusive, positive atmosphere for this free family festival for surrounding communities.
Key Responsibilities: Friday, volunteers can help set up the staging, flags, tables, and chairs. During River Day, they help serve food, assist in parking, or man tables such as the watershed model or children’s activities. After River Day, they help clean up. Volunteers must wear their WRWA River Day t-shirt during their shifts. If requesting any reasonable accommodations, please reach out to the contact person prior to the event.
Qualifications: Volunteers who help set up or clean up after the event may be asked to lift up to 20 or 30 pounds alone, possibly more with a partner. Volunteers helping serve food or man tables during the event must be able to interact with people in a positive manner and may be up on their feet for the duration of their shift, possibly in the sun.
Time Commitment: Volunteers must commit to a 2 hour shift minimum, and a maximum of up to 12 hours for the weekend. Set up runs Friday from 8am to 2pm. The event itself runs on Saturday from 8:30am to 3pm, and cleanup goes to 4pm at most.
Trainings and Support Provided: No trainings are necessary before volunteering for this event, and staff will be on hand throughout the event to answer questions and explain duties to be performed.
Benefits: Each volunteer will be provided a River Day t-shirt in the requested size, as well as water bottles, coffee, pastries, and lunch. Any volunteers with dietary restrictions should notify the contact person prior to the event. Volunteers are invited to volunteer events, such as the volunteer appreciation party and the holiday party in December.
