Who We Are
Since its founding in 1903, the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA) has been the most powerful and effective voice on nursing and health care in the Commonwealth. The Purpose of MNA Work for improvement and availability of health care services for all people. Foster high standards of nursing practice, education and research. Promote the health and safety of nurses. Act and speak for registered nurses in Massachusetts. Foster involvement by RNs in the political process to shape sound health policies.
What We Do
Nurses say that they are assigned far too many patients to handle at once and that it can lead to patient risks, improper, and unsafe care. Currently we are working with Nurses who are in favor of the Safe Patient Limits. It is a campaign initiative that will better the healthcare of patients across the state of Massachusetts as well as significantly improve working conditions for nurses. We have various field organizers in different districts who meet with volunteers and nurses and discuss the issues nurses face pertaining to the initiative. Upon learning what the nurses have to say, we hope volunteers understand and can spread awareness simply by use their phone to engage with the community. This can be done by canvassing a local town or phonebanking. We try to make volunteering enjoyable and offer a light hearted, low pressure atmosphere. We offer snacks and small prizes for volunteers!
