New Bedford Housing Authority Resident Services Programs

Who We Are

The mission of the New Bedford Housing Authority is to professionally and proactively provide safe, quality and affordable housing options while promoting self-sufficiency, fostering leadership among residents and staff while cultivating sustainable, healthy communities. Our vision is to achieve sustainability and self-sufficiency in the face of economic uncertainty.  The New Bedford Housing Authority is no longer here simply to maintain bricks and mortar, but equally important are the education, jobs, health and well being of our residents. In order to break the cycle of poverty, we must be willing to provide our residents with a greater level of support in order for them succeed.

What We Do

The Resident Services Programs are designed to to assist our residents in setting goals and dreams for a better tomorrow. With this in mind, the NBHA Resident Service Coordinators support our residents in the achievement of their goals and dreams while on the path to self-sufficiency. Our Resource Center sites are staffed with bilingual, bi-cultural staff that have the experience in working with families in a holistic fashion. The Resident Service Coordinators work as a team with their Property Managers to ensure that residents have positive experiences during their stay in public housing.

The NBHA has instituted educational initiatives that will support even our youngest residents in launching foundations for a better future. We also have programs and services that support our elderly residents in aging-in-place with dignity.  We work with over 40 community partners that bring services into our resource centers and public housing developments to promote accessibility.

We are looking to our community for individuals and organizations to help sustain projects like our afterschool programs and our food distribution program.  Our afterschool programs serve children that live in our developments as well as the surrounding communities.  Our food distribution program serves over 6000 lbs. of food to our elderly residents every month.
