Who We Are
Homeless Point-In-Time Count- In January of each year, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) office requires communities to count the number of sheltered and unsheltered homeless to provide a basis to evaluate the nature and extent of homelessness. On Wednesday, January 28th from 2:00 p.m. to January 29th at 2:00pm the New Bedford Homeless Continuum of Care, known as the Homeless Service Providers Network, will conduct New Bedford’s annual Point-in-Time Count and survey. The information collected provides a reliable snap shot of unduplicated sheltered and unsheltered individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Point-in-Time Counts are conducted annually across the nation and are designed to collect data on the number of individuals and families experiencing homelessness on any given night. The information collected through the Point-in-Time Count is used to help measure New Bedford’s progress towards ending homelessness.
What We Do
The Homeless Service Providers Network (HSPN) is a collection of over 70 agencies, individuals and organizations to advocate on behalf of homeless individuals by enlisting the cooperation of homeless providers, to improve the accessibility of existing public resources, to maintain statistical data on the homeless population, and to provide supportive services and empowerment strategies to allow these individuals to be integrated into the community through a compassionate Continuum of Care.
