The Boys And Girls Club Of Wareham

Who We Are

The Boys & Girls Club of Wareham serves children ages 7 to 13 through two primary programs: an Afterschool Program and a summer program. The Afterschool Program has the nationally acclaimed Power Hour component which provides homework help and tutoring. Arts & crafts, healthy lifestyles activities, games room and court activities, including basketball are also provided. Summer Fun is an 8 to 9 week program which operates from 8:30 to 5pm, with an early drop and a late pick up option. The program offers participants a variety of summer fun activities including: field trips, computers, recreation, drama, arts and crafts and swim days. The Club also provides monthly dances for 3rd - 5th graders. This year's Kukoo (Kukoo Go Fish)project is all about fish and marine activities. While a Club fundraiser for adult participants, members will be involved in year round educational activities, including field trips to the Whaling Museum and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Volunteers with any knowledge or expertise or just hobbies about fish, or their habitat; artists and crafters who would like to share their passion with the children are welcome on a one time or multi-session basis.

What We Do

Mission Statement The Wareham Unit of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford, Inc. is dedicated to providing a stimulating and wholesome environment which promotes social, educational, character and physical development for children and young adults ages 7 - 13 years. The aim of the Club is to service youth and children from disadvantaged circumstances. Underlying all programs is the desire to create a youth development strategy which fosters and advances a sense of belonging, inclusion, competence, diversity and self-worth. The Club was started as an independent organization in 1982 by a group of concerned Wareham citizens because the town had lost its Recreation Department due to Proposition 2 1/2. In December 2006, the Club received a charter from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and shortly thereafter merged with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford.
